OUR MISSION

Seniors Action Service, Inc. is dedicated to enabling older individuals to maintain their highest level of independence, self-respect and dignity.

OUR HISTORY

Since its inception in 1975, Seniors Action Service, Inc. (SASI) has supported the older worker, fostered independence in older adults, and provided trained caregivers to assist clients and their families in need. The United Ways of Evanston and Skokie Valley endorse our efforts as do various community foundations and individual donors. Recent grants have enabled us to fulfill our mission in new and exciting ways. We know we are a well-kept secret, a not-for-profit agency with a personal touch. Learn about us, grow with us.

OUR PROGRAMS

The Caring Home Aid Program (CHAP) carefully matches trained caregivers with older adults who need extra assistance to maintain quality of life. We are proud of our dedicated homemaker companions. They can provide you (or your family member, neighbor or friend) with:

  Personal care to enhance normal daily activities
  Meal preparation to ensure proper nutrition
  Light housekeeping to maintain the home in a clean and comfortable condition
  Companionship to minimize loneliness and assist with shopping, errands, outings, and medical appointments

We believe that caregiving is more than a job it’s an art requiring training, understanding of the aging process, dependability and commitment.

Our Excellence in Eldercare Education and Employment program (EXCEL) was created in response to the growing need for skilled caregivers. Begun as SASI’s commitment to provision of client-centered care, EXCEL empowers paraprofessionals with job-ready skills. The interactive training is designed for home and residential settings. Courses provide caregivers with the requisite compassion, communication skills and ethical standards to excel in meeting the challenges of eldercare today.
